MONTHLY TOURISM STATISTICAL RELEASE, MAY 2026

Zanzibar recorded 40,151 international visitors in May 2026, an increase of 8.4 percent compared with 37,038 visitors in May 2025 and increase of 4.1 percent compared with 38,554 visitors recorded in the preceding month (April 2026).  

European tourists dominated the market by accounting for 55.4 percent of the total visitors in May 2026. Country-wise, Germany dominated the tourism market by accounting for 10.8 percent of all visitors entered in May 2026, followed by South Afrika (7.1 percent), while New Japan less than one percent (0.3 percent) the least.
